Burgess Falls State Park
Last updated: October 30, 2023
Kris and I climbed in the car with both dogs and met my parents at Burgess Falls State Park for a day together outdoors enjoying one of Tennessee’s beautiful state parks.
Upon arrival, we were happy to find a nice paved parking lot with plenty of space for parking, despite the fact it was Fourth of July weekend. There are bathrooms and an area to read about the park history as well as a stationed map. Everything you need prior to taking the trail.
The trail is 1.6 miles and partly man made. This is mostly due to the elevation… stairs have been added to make the trail more manageable.
The trail offers an overlook of the falls in addition to taking you directly to the falls.
On the way to the falls, you’ll find pretty trail views along the way.
You can keep exploring and find a dam which has even more cascading waterfalls to see on the way.
Overall, this is a short hike with rewarding views. If you’re looking for a family day trip that will allow you to include the dogs, I highly recommend! Happy waterfall chasing!
