Crater Lake National Park
Last updated: October 30, 2023
Crater Lake was the bluest water I have ever laid eyes on and is famous for that, as well as the water clarity. What’s interesting is that it was formed by a collapsed volcano thousands of years ago. There are no rivers flowing into or out of the lake and the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall. At 1,949 feet, it’s the deepest in the United States and ninth deepest in the world.
You can see Wizard Island clearly from any point of the 33 mile drive around the lake. You can also take a boat to the island in the summer months (assuming it’s not closed due to COVID).
There’s a great place to eat lunch in the park as well as fill up stations. I had one of the best barbecue sandwich’s I’ve ever had (it had slaw on it and it was divine). I was entertained with their liquid death canned water.
The menu had a variety of options. I had the barbecue sandwich and it was really yummy. The folks next to me were having one of the pizzas and it looked divine. Overall, a really great place to fill your tummy!
I was very entertained by this teepee Tesla charger! Given there is so much driving within the park, it’s extremely convenient they offered charging stations and fuel pumps. They even customize their fuel pumps, which again, I was entertained by… and now it’s official; I’m way too easily entertained!
The drive around Crater Lake offered beautiful views at different viewpoints that allows you to see the lake at all different angles.
Overall, exploring this National Park is a great way to spend the day the views really are breathtaking. With the many hikes the area offers, I suggest taking a lunch and enjoying the day!
Have you been to the gorgeous Crater Lake? If so, we’re you able to explore Wizard Island? I’d love to hear!
