Given I have a waterfall less than half mile from my Indiana home, I have visited it many times; both in the summer and during the fall. Now that it’s been literally -11 degrees here with a windchill of -35, I kept thinking that I needed to see it frozen. My husband and I both had the day off so we bundled up and headed out with my Canon to capture some shots.

I had beautiful memories of my first frozen waterfall experience from 2018, and I won’t lie; this wasn’t as gorgeous as that frozen adventure. It also wasn’t 100% frozen, which was shocking given the recent weather, but it was still very pretty! We had a great time getting some photos of the falls from different angles (and of each other!).

My sweet husband knows how important it is for this southern girl to be warm, so when it dropped to below zero and I officially became introduced to the coldest weather of my life, my husband ordered me fleece lined yoga pants (with pockets!) and I’ve never been so thrilled. I had him send me the link so I could share it with y’all and let me tell you; the 20k five star reviews didn’t lie… I was warm on this snowy adventure and didn’t feel bulky with 10 layers of clothes like I normally do. I was happy with the boots that were truly waterproof as advertised and my toes stayed warm with the boot socks. I only had a long sleeve waffle shirt on, so the puffer coat really did it’s job! I was happy with the whole winter ensemble and have shared with you in the links below. The only thing that was cold was my hands but that’s because I chose to keep them free to work my camera. The hat and scarf are long time favorites of mine that I’ve owned for years and are no longer available but I’ve added a link below to similar items in case you’re interested!

Now that I’m typing this and thinking about how cold my hands were, I’ve popped over to Amazon to see if they make winter gloves for photographers and look what I found! I have literally just bought these and chose them because they are 50% off. 😍

Again, I was bummed to find the waterfall wasn’t a solid icicle, but it was still photo worthy!

I don’t know about you, but the more Christmases I celebrate, the less stuff I want and prefer to just cherish the day off work spending it with people I love the most. Uninterrupted time off work is the best gift I can receive and I’m grateful to have received that this year. Kris gave me a bottle of my favorite perfume, I gave him a book, and we hightailed it out of the house to spend a day we had planned out together. These are my happiest Christmases and I look forward to future ones with less stuff and more time making memories (and capturing them through photos 📷 ❤️)!

Healthy hair presented to you by Leaf and Flower as described in this post!

I finally mapped out the perfect 3 mile loop that includes these falls and I’ve walked it a lot with the dogs! If you’re ever in the area I’d be happy to show you!

Stay warm!
