Living on the Indiana-Ohio boarder allows me the opportunity to experience both states as they host events. Thanks to my mother-in-law, Wanda, I learned about Ohio’s Hot Air Balloon Festival in Middleton and was intrigued with the advertisement of a hot air balloon glow show. We made plans to attend and when the day arrived, we carpooled on over to check it out. My step-son, Konnor, was visiting with us so he got to be part of the adventure as well.

When we arrived, I was glad we carpooled. Parking was scarce and we had to park a ways out, but I always enjoy the extra steps so I didn’t mind at all.

There was a $5 entry fee and once we entered there was a lot going on. Tethered hot air balloon rides, music, vendors, long lines for drinks and snacks, helicopter rides, and hot air balloons getting filled up. It was definitely a kid friendly event, so there were a lot of kiddos running around having the time of their lives.

We were fortunate to see the sunset while awaiting the big finale of the hot air balloon glow show. For whatever reason, I had originally been under the impression the hot air balloons would be in the night sky lighting up, but turns out, they just stay on the ground. Regardless, it was still quite beautiful against the night sky.

Due to being on the middle of moving and having all of my belongings in a moving truck, I missed the opportunity to use my cannon for the below shots, so I’d likely attend this again in the future in order to use it to practice taking night photos, but I had my handy dandy iPhone 13 Pro and it produced some really amazing shots!

How lovely to be so close to my husbands mom to be able to attend weekend events together. 😊💗

Enjoy these unique photos of our evening watching a hot air balloon glow show!

I didn’t know there was such a thing as hot air balloon festivals, and I while I may go one more time to try out my Cannon against the night sky, this is likely one of those one-time events for me. Once you’ve seen it, you’ve seen it, but I wouldn’t mind taking a trip in a hot air balloon one day!
