FabFitFun: Should You Become a Member?
Last updated: January 22, 2024
All retail prices are accurate at the time of this writing. Also, as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases which means if you click a link and purchase the item, I’ll earn some money at no additional cost to you which I’ll use to buy more cool stuff to blog about!
Let’s talk about FabFitFun (FFF), a quarterly subscription meaning you get four boxes each year; one for each season. This is honestly a great subscription box to introduce you to a lot of different products and my favorite thing about FFF is that they send FULL SIZE, high end products for much cheaper than you would pay for them individually. I have discovered several products that have become must haves that I never knew existed and would not have tried if it hadn’t been for FFF. I’ll share details of what I’ve received in my boxes below. PSA: I am not affiliated with FFF… I’m just sharing my experience with you. 😊
Signing Up
Head on over to FabFitFun.com and choose your subscription. The most importantly thing to understand here is that each box has an approximate value of $300, depending on how you customize. You have two choices:
- Annual Member: Pay a one time $220 payment for all four boxes for the year ($55 per box). PROS: Save $5 on each box (vs the seasonal member), receive special perks such as early access to customize your entire box, and shop the add on sales before popular items go out of stock. You’ll also have your box ship faster. CONS: There is no cancelling or getting your money back. You will receive all four boxes for the year.
- Seasonal Member: pay for each box each quarter ($60 per box). PROS: You don’t have to pay for all four boxes up front, and you aren’t committed to all four boxes. CONS: pay $5 more per box, only customize four items in your box, access to customize and shop Add-on / Edit sales only after the annual members have chosen their items (meaning there will be items out of stock), and your box ships after all the annual members.
I started as a seasonal member in 2021 and upgraded to an annual membership in 2022, and recommend the annual membership. I am cancelling for 2023 because I have enough products to last me the next 12 months without having to buy a single thing.
After you sign up, you’ll receive a selection of six full-size premium products to be delivered to your door. Each box includes the latest in beauty, fashion, fitness, and wellness. You’ll be able to customize each seasonal box by either selecting your products beforehand or choose to keep your box a surprise! I always customize each box because skin products are what I’m most interested in receiving and lean towards that when choosing my items. Below is some information that would have been helpful for me to know when I signed up for FFF.
What’s a Boost Item?
A boost item is something offered during box customization that allows you to add an extra item to your box that is deeply discounted, and the items are pretty popular. Keep in mind that annual members get first dibs.
What’s the Add-on Sale?
In addition to your box, you’ll get access to loads of items that are discounted, some of them impressively deep. I’ve checked the brand websites and Amazon during these sales and can confirm the items are significantly cheaper through the FFF Add-on Sale. The sale is completely optional but I always peruse and normally add a few additional items to my box because the deals are just too good to pass. I recently saw an item showing 90% off! This sale takes place before seasonal boxes are shipped and any products chosen are added to your seasonal box, so the shipping is free. This makes for a pretty exciting box arrival!
What’s the Edit Sale?
This is the same thing as the Add-on Sale except it takes place in between seasons and those items are not shipped with your seasonal box. I normally skip these because I get what I need with the Add-on Sale and don’t want to pay shipping.
What are the Options?
In addition to beauty items, there are home items like candles and kitchen accessories. There’s closet items like hats, purses and robes. There’s fitness items such as vitamins and yoga mats. There’s jewelry and sunglasses. The selection of items is impressively diverse. There’s honestly something for everyone.
My Summer 2022 Box
Ah, you lucky ducks. I wish I could have found someone who would have given me the details I’m about to give you regarding the items in the boxes. If you sign up, I highly recommend downloading the app which is where I’m going to take screenshots so you can see what kind of products and deals you’ll be privy to as a FFF member.
I received and email letting me know customizations had opened for the summer box and I clicked the link and went through my choices for the 6 items. For each customization, I was given several items to choose from and below are the six items I chose.
- Total retail received: $311
- Total Spent on box: $55
- Total Savings: $256 (82%)
I’ve included the links to the products under the photos in case you want to learn more about the products.
I’ve already used all of the scrub, the eye masks and have used the mascara and face wash every morning for almost six months and they are both running low. I just started the night cream as I had some other items to use up.
The Boost (optional)
I added Kate Somerville’s Wrinkle Warrior Eye Gel to my box for $19, and considering it retails for $76, this was an awesome deal for a super great product! I’m honestly hooked on Kate Somerville because of FFF and this is one of her stellar products. This item was added to my Summer 2022 box and I finished it up last month.
- Total retail received: $76
- Total spent; $19
- Total saved: $57 (75%)
The Add-on Sale (optional)
Because I had been wanting to try the Kate Sommerville ExfoliKate products but had been too cheap to pay full price for them, I was thrilled to see them offered at a deep discount during the Summer 2022 Add-on Sale.
- Total retail received: $240
- Total Spent: $64
- Total Saved: $176 (73%)
I’ve used both Kate Somerville products completely over the past 6 months. The floss was something new I’d never thought to try (coconut oil infused!) and I’m working on getting through other products before I get to the eye balm.
My Fall 2022 Box
I received the email that my Fall 2022 box was open to customization and I immediately clicked the link to customize my box. I was really pleased with my options for this box and got a selection of items for body, face and hair. I decided to skip the boost for this box.
- Total retail received: $241
- Total spent on box: $55
- Total saved: $186 (77%)
Add-on Sale (optional)
I took advantage and added to my Kate Somerville collection. I’ve used the eye cream every morning and every night for the past three months and it’s still not empty.
- Total retail received: $238
- Total spent: $65
- Total saved: $173 (72%)
Now for the Big Question: Is It Worth It?
I’m a hard yes as I’m saving about 75% on these products and I’m using them. If you are looking to get introduced to high-end beauty items, this will give you access to deeply discounted items to try in addition to items for your home, fitness routine, and closet. It’s an awesome way to stock up on gifts for friends and family. This has encouraged me to be diligent in my AM and PM skincare routine as I am motivated to use everything before another box comes in, but given the Boosts and Add-On sales, I am overly stocked and as mentioned before, will be taking a year off this subscription service to get through everything before signing back up.
Gift for You!
